Safety Switch Trip

If your Safety switch trips (1) try to reset it first. ( 2) If it wont reset it is either (a) a fault appliance or lead or (b) a fault in the hard wiring or (c) a faulty safety switch(unlikely but possible). In case (a) you should unplug all appliances from the wall,( dont just turn them off) then reset the safety switch, { if it wont reset at this stage you will need an electrician (b) & (c) } and then plug appliances back in one by one. When the safety switch trips as you plug in appliances you know you have the offending faulty appliance. Take it to an electrician for repair or replace. Then reset the safety switch again. In the case of (b) or (c) you will need and electrician to find the fault.A reason for safety switches tripping periodically can be when switching in the supply lines happens your supply might experience a spike ( a rise in voltage) which will trip the safety switch if you have any SURGE protected multi plugs commonly know as Kambrooks. It is good thing in the case of a lightning strike that the safety switch trips, because all of you appliances will be disconnected from the wiring and will less likely to be damaged.A good tip is to install your fridges and freezers on separate safety switches, this way if trips occur your food wont be lost or spoiled. You cannot have too many safety switches!!
